BENEFITS OF
DESIGN- ASSIST

building collaboration

IMPLEMENT OUR DESIGN-ASSIST
IN YOUR NEXT PROJECT

WWG 13.png

Design-Assist can be implemented on nearly any construction project regardless of type or size. We specialize in both exterior and interior design-assist capabilities. We recognize the benefits of collaboration with improvements in design efficiency, cost management, speed to installation, and alternative system considerations.

We know that our involvement early in the design process reduces redundancy inherent in the traditional design-bid-build process and helps to detect and resolve constructability issues before construction starts.

The results have shown a reduction in design-related RFI's during construction, when the potential for budget and schedule implications is the greatest.

Our expertise in glass and metal building components can be a great benefit to your next construction project.

We welcome the collaboration process at every level of design and planning.

PLAN OF ACTION

We have extensive experience with design-assist services and have garnered successful implementation for many of our construction projects. We work seamlessly with owners, architects, designers, engineers, and general contractors to supply innovative solutions in glass and metal for any construction project.

We thrive in complex environments!

Collaboration continues well past the design and planning stages to routinely assess any challenges. We diligently work to maintain a budget which is established at the onset of project planning. All efforts are made to receive competitive pricing and to implement any value-added options to achieve construction goals.

We communicate openly with all members of the construction team to ensure that timely information is available and considered at each phase of the project.

Our goal is to reduce construction costs and provide accurate schedule milestones which makes our design-assist service very advantageous.

BUILDING CUSTOMIZATION

IDD 212 Series

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

This project for a confidential client utilized the customization, fabrication, and installation of the exclusive Industrial Demountable Design 212 Series products.

Build from a white-box floor in an iconic Chicago building, this company's new U.S. headquarters now features meeting and office environments with lots of natural light, distinct offices, conference rooms, staff collaborative/team-building areas, and welcoming entryway.

This custom design incorporated constructing enclosed environments within a corporate office setting. These designs can be used for offices, entries, meeting rooms, conference rooms, work-space dividers, open area enhancement, and collaborative space functionality.

The best part is the ability to take advantage of as much natural light as possible in each space. These defined spaces will not hinder daylight and views of the city from exterior building walls.

building with metals

ARCHITECTURAL
& ORNAMENTAL

Projects with architectural and ornamental metals are especially suited for the design-assist process. Widely used in construction, architectural metals can be seen in almost any application imaginable, whether one is working with stainless steel, coated aluminum, or another natural metal. It also has the ability to form shapes and profiles in many ways - whether extruded, formed, or perforated - to achieve an architect's vision.

Design-assist allows the project team and product fabricator, like our sister company, Griffin Glass & Metal Werks, Inc., to collaborate and determine the most suitable approach.

It is advisable to employ design-assist for projects with metals as it is a complex building material. Learning about your unique project requirements and desired aesthetic at the beginning of the process will enable us to provide the best possible solution.

NEW CONSTRUCTION
& RENOVATION

Hines VA.jpg

Working collaboratively with owners, architects, designers, and general contractors, Christopher Glass & Aluminum, Inc. provides building envelope, enclosure, and façade options which are best suited for your overall construction needs and expectations.

We work with you to gather information relative to the desired glass types for your unique construction project. Glass types could include color, reflectivity, visible light transmittance, solar heat gain, and LEED standards. Additional data would include spandrel conditions, sun control devices like vertical or horizontal sunshades; type, orientation and appearance of operable windows and doors; types, colors, projections, textures, and construction of metal panels; fire rated or special construction areas.

ONE JOB AT A TIME

Blue Print

Our Design-Assist approach focuses on

  • Aesthetic Intent

  • Building Dynamics

  • Building Performance

  • Budget

Utilizing an experienced engineering team we can quickly assess the details of the various building components and illustrate how they work together. Our intent is to ensure that all designs work properly and will negate the need for design changes later in the project.

Multiple façade products can be utilized for your project including curtain wall, window wall, storefront, and entrances. This way value added components can be specified in the plan from the beginning.

Taking time to build relationships in the construction industry is an important part of what we do. Work with Christopher Glass & Aluminum, Inc. to bring your design-assist expectations into reality.

We will bring our expert team to meet with all invested stake-holders to listen, observe, communicate, and provide expert glass & metal construction services.
